Applying to Work and Income NZ (WINZ)

If you have lost your job and are applying to Work and Income NZ for financial assistance, you may have a compulsory stand-down period imposed (in some cases up to 13 weeks) before you can claim any payments.

If you have raised a personal grievance in relation to losing your job, you may qualify to have that compulsory stand-down waived, enabling you to access financial assistance much faster.

If you wish to raise a personal grievance, please tell your advocate if you are intending to apply for WINZ assistance and also visit the Work and Income NZ website - www.workandincome.govt.nz
